Igrien is a writer, interdisciplinary artist and creative director based in the Netherlands.
Working across writing, photography, image, material and space, her practice explores memory, identity and what is carried between generations. Her current work is particularly shaped by Chinese-Dutch identity, migration and collective memory.
Originally trained as a tax lawyer, Igrien later moved into publishing, photography, visual art and creative direction. Her experience across editorial, cultural and commercial projects has gradually converged into an autonomous artistic practice. She is co-founder of Red Blue Collective, a foundation dedicated to Chinese-Dutch stories and heritage, and founder and creative director of Random, a cultural brand and publishing platform.
Her latest project Chinatown brings together oral history, photography and installation to explore how personal histories become part of a collective memory, and what we choose to preserve and pass on.
