Strokes explores what happens when the photographic image is treated not as a finished document, but as a surface to be continued.

Photographic portraits are extended through gestural brushstrokes in green and black, moving behind, around and outward from the body. At times they suggest leaves, movement or calligraphic marks without settling into a fixed representation. By bringing photography and painting into the same image, Strokes shifts between figure and abstraction, control and gesture.
